Add L3VPN Service Post Update Placements Site Network Access Parameters

You can configure placement parameters for the L3VPN service when you are creating or modifying the service instance. Use Update placements button on the General page and Customer Site Settings page to automatically assign possible placement options for the service instance.

You must create an L3VPN service instance and add general, site, and site network access details before you update the placements parameters about the service. See Add an L3VPN Service Instance and Add L3VPN Site and Site Network Access Details.

To configure placement parameters:

  1. Click the Update Placements button on top of the Customer Site Settings page and click Yes when prompted to confirm.

The service instance is saved to the Routing Director database. The saved instance is listed in the Service Instances table on the Service Instances page.

Service orchestration automatically assigns possible placement options such as PE devices and interfaces, CE devices, and VLANs for the service instance on the Site Network Access table. After placement options are assigned, a confirmation message appears indicating that the placement was successfully updated.

The Site Network Access table contains the fields required to provision services between customer sites and the service provider network. The fields in the Site Network Access table are populated with the configuration you enter in the Network Implementation Plan and the Customer Site Settings page when you configure the service.

For information on each field, see Fields in the Site Network Access table

Table 1: Fields in the Site Network Access table
    Field Description
    Access ID

Displays a unique ID for the connection between the site and the service provider network.

This is configured on the Add Connection page as the Site Network Access ID.

Device Displays the access interface selected for the connection based on the CE reference value defined.

This is configured on the Add Connection page as the Access Interface (or CE reference).

This value should match the Access Interface (or CE reference) value configured in the Network Implementation Plan (Inventory > Network Implementation Plan > Devices > Physical Ports > physical-interface > Access Parameters).

    PE

Displays the PE device that is allocated for the connection by service orchestration.

This is configured on the Add Device page as the Name in the Network Implementation Plan.

This field is populated post Update Placements.

This column is not populated when IRB interfaces are configured.
    PE Interface

Displays the PE interface that is assigned to the connection by service orchestration.

This is configured under the Interfaces table on the Physical Ports tab in the Network Implementation Plan.

This field is populated post Update Placements.

This column is not populated when IRB interfaces are configured.
    IRB Instance

Displays the name of the EVPN service instance that created the IRB interface for the L3VPN service.

This is configured on the Add Connection page as the IRB Reference when configuring the Site Network Access parameters of EVPN.

To consume the required resources and populate this field, Layer 3 Gateway must be set to True while configuring EVPN.

This field is populated post Update Placements.

    IRB NE ID

Displays the PE device that is allocated for the connection by service orchestration.

This is configured on the Add Device page as the Name in the Network Implementation Plan.

To consume the required resources and populate this field, Layer 3 Gateway must be set to True while configuring EVPN.

This field is populated post Update Placements.

    IRB

Displays the IRB interface ID for the PE device.

This is automatically selected from the available range of interface IDs configured under IRBs on the Add Device page while in the Network Implementation Plan.

To consume the required resources and populate this field, Layer 3 Gateway must be set to True while configuring EVPN.

This field is populated post Update Placements.

  2. (Optional) Click Back on the Customer Site Settings page to configure placement parameters in the fields on the General page if you have not already configured them in 4 of the Add an L3VPN Service Instance wizard.

Alternatively, if you have already configured the placement parameters, verify the parameters and edit them if required.

Click Next to go back to the Customer Site Settings Page.

  3. To edit placement parameters on the Customer Site Settings page, select the site network access for which you want to edit placement parameters, and click the edit icon.

    The Edit Connection page appears.

    1. Expand Access Interface and configure the access interface parameters by referring to the following table:
