About the Topology Filter Page
To access this page, click Management > Dynamic Topology > Topology Filter.
The Topology Filter page provides a centralized interface to configure and manage the filter rules used as a part of the topology filter. Create filter rules to control which nodes should appear on the topology map and whether Routing Director should collect live updates from the node.
You can view and manage filter rules. You can add, edit, import, export, and reorder the filter rules in this tab. Additionally you can also view the results of the applied filter rules.
Tasks You Can Perform
You can perform the following tasks from this page:
-
View details of filter rules—You can view the list of all the filter rules that you have configured and their details as displayed in Table 1.
-
Add a filter rule, see Add a Filter Rule.
-
Edit filter rules, see Edit a Filter Rule.
-
Import a filter rule, see Import a Filter Rule.
-
Export a filter rule, see Export a Filter Rule.
-
Delete a filter rule, see Delete a Filter Rule.
-
View the filter rule results—You can view the results of previously-applied rules by clicking the More > View Results option. In the Combined Result of Applied Filters table in the Topology Filter page, you can view the list of devices that are accepted or rejected by the topology filter. If the Filtered column displays Yes, then the device is rejected by the filter. If the Filtered column displays No, then the device is accepted by the filter.
Note: The View Results option is only applicable when there is atleast one filter rule configured. -
Reorder the filter rules—You can reorder the list of filter rules using the Move Up and Move Down arrows present in the Order column of the Filter Rules table. The first rule present in the list takes precedence over the other rules and is applied first to the topology filter.
-
Save the changes made to filter rules—Once you make the updates to a filter rule, click the Save Changes button to save and apply the changes made to the filter rule.
-
You can also perform the following tasks on this page:
-
Sort, resize, or re-arrange columns in a table (grid).
-
Show or hide columns in the table or reset page preferences, using the vertical ellipsis menu.
For more information, see GUI Overview.

Field Descriptions
Table 1 lists the fields on the Topology Filter page.
|
Field |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Condition |
Displays one of the following fields as a condition for filtering a node:
|
|
Type |
Displays the type of condition.
Note:
|
|
Value |
Displays the value you want to match against the selected condition field. Note: The value depends on the Condition Field selected. For
example, if you have selected router-id, then enter only the IP address. If
you have selected hostname or sys-id, enter any alphanumeric
value.
|
|
Action |
Displays an Action; either Accept or Reject to include or exclude the node from the topology respectively. Note: Irrespective of whether the node is accepted or rejected
in the topology filter, you can still view the onboarded nodes on the topology
map. However, for the onboarded nodes that are rejected by the topology filter,
the live events data is not collected.
|
|
Order |
Displays the order in which the filter rules are created. The filter rule in the first row has the highest priority and runs first. Use the Move Up and Move Down arrows to change the order. |
