About the Rule Instances Tab
To access this tab, click Observability > Health > Smart KPI Assistant > Rule Instances.
Use this tab to view the rule instances that you created and the instances created by the Observability Recommendation Engine. You create a rule instance to apply a custom rule on one or more devices. For more information about custom rules, see Rules Overview.
Tasks You Can Perform
You can perform the following tasks from this tab:

View all rule instances.

Create a rule instance. For more information, see Add a Rule Instance.

Create a new tag or add a tag to a rule instance. For more information, see Add Tags to a Rule Instance.

Edit an existing rule instance. For more information, see Edit a Rule Instance.
Note: You can only edit the rule instances that you have created. You cannot edit the rule instances created by the Observability Recommendation Engine. Check the Source/From column in the All Rule Instantiations table to know the source of the rule instance. -
Delete an existing rule instance. For more information, see Delete a Rule Instance.

Click a rule instance (hyperlink) to view detail of alerts generated on the Monitor Rule-Instance page. For more information, see About the Monitor Instance-Name Page.

Sort, resize, or re-arrange columns in a table (grid).

Show or hide columns in the table or reset page preferences, using the vertical ellipsis menu.

Search by using keywords—Click the search icon (magnifying glass), enter the search term in the text box, and press Enter. The search results are displayed on the same page.

Filter the data displayed in the table—Click the filter icon (funnel) and select whether you want to show or hide advanced filters. You can then add or remove filter criteria, save criteria as a filter, apply or clear filters, and so on. The filtered results are displayed on the same page.
Field Descriptions
Table 1 lists the fields on the Rule Instances Tab.

Rule Instance Name |
Displays the name of the rule instance. |

Severity |
The severity level of the rule instance alert. The levels are:

Rules |
Displays the name of the custom rule added to the rule instance. It is displayed in the topic-name/rule-name format. Hover over + number to view the names of the other rules and associated topics added to the instance but are not displayed by default. |

Devices |
Displays the name of device added to the instance. Hover over the + number to view the names of additional devices that are part of the instance but not displayed by default. |

State |
Displays the state of the rule instance. The states are:

Tags |
Displays the names of all the tags associated with the rule instance. A tag is a label (unique key/value pair) that you assign to a rule instance. You can use these labels to filter rule instances. Hover over + number to view the names of the other tags added but are not displayed by default. |

Description |
The brief description of the rule instance, if any. |
|
Source/From |
The source from which the rule instance was generated. The values applicable here are:
