Planner Overview
The Planner use case is a planning and simulation tool that provides in-depth network views and reports on how the network is performing both during normal and failure scenarios, all without impacting your environment.
Planner can be used for offline visualization and detailed architectural planning of any production network. Planner enables you to forecast the impact that changes such as latency, additional traffic, shifts in traffic flows, and new capacity or services will have on your network.
Planner can generate a graphical view of a network, enabling the addition, removal, and reconfiguration of network elements. Using the network topology view, you can model and visualize dynamic, explicit routing paths, designed to operate within end-user defined constraints.
The effects of these changes and other traffic scenarios can be simulated without affecting the production network.
Benefits of Planner
-
Plan for future growth by analyzing the current network capacity and future requirements for bandwidth. This analysis using Planner helps you to formulate plans for expanding your production network to meet your business needs and simulate those plans before implementing the plan on the production network.
-
Ensure network resiliency by studying the impact of node and link failures, and planning for mitigating any issues that may occur.
-
Reduce network operation costs by formulating network designs for effective use of existing network resources.
