Custom KPIs Data and Test Results

To access the Custom KPIs accordion:

  1. Select Observability > Health > Troubleshoot Devices page.

  2. Click a device name to access the Device-Name page.

    The Device-Name page is displayed.

  3. Click the Custom KPIs accordion in the Overview tab.

The Custom KPIs accordion displays details of the custom rules deployed on a selected device. Table 1 lists the data displayed in the Custom KPIs accordion.

Routing Director allows you to upload custom rules to define KPIs for network devices. These rules are applied to network devices through Rule instances. For more information, see About the Custom KPI Collection Page. Once a rule is applied to a device, Routing Director evaluates device performance against the configured threshold limits. If any KPI exceeds its threshold, an alert is generated. These alerts are displayed on this page along with their severity levels.

When you upload a custom rule, you select a topic to associate with the uploaded custom rule. A topic determines in which accordion the rule results are displayed. To display Custom KPIs results under the Custom KPIs accordion, select the custom topic when uploading the rules. This topic is for custom rules that are not related to other predefined categories such as custom.interface, custom.hardware, or custom.routing.

Custom KPIs

The list of custom rules that you uploaded under custom topic and deployed on the device from the Rule List page (Observability > Health > Custom KPI Collection > Custom Rules > Rules List).

You can view the severity of alerts for each rule along with the number of alerts generated.

Additionally, you can click the alert-count-link to display a list of custom rule instances that are filtered by the selected device, rule, and topic in the Rule Instantiations Tab (Observability > Health > Custom KPI Collection).

Click Show more to view all the custom rules associated with the selected device, and click Show less to return to the default view.

The Show more link is displayed only when there are more than 12 custom rules listed. If there are rules lesser than 12, Show more link is not displayed.

Health Status

The top-right corner of the accordion displays the overall compliance of the custom KPIs. The various states are:

    • Healthy—The device meets the threshold criteria and is fully compliant with the rules defined under the Custom topic.

  • Being Monitored—The device is being monitored for non-compliance with the defined rules.

    The device has at least one custom rule with a KPI exceeding the lower threshold but remains below the higher threshold specified limit, indicating potential non-compliance.

  • Urgent Action Needed— The device requires immediate intervention to restore compliance. The collected metric has exceeded the high threshold defined for the applicable custom rule.

Relevant Events

Lists the most severe active alert related to custom KPIs in the order of severity. Hover over View Details to view details of an alert.

Click View all Relevant Events to view all the alerts raised during the past seven days, related to the custom KPIs on the Events for Device-Name page.
