Update the Network Implementation Plan After Routing Director Upgrade

After the Routing Director cluster has been upgraded, use the information in this topic to upgrade the service designs, and update the network implementation plan on the upgraded setup.

  1. As part of upgrading your Routing Director installation from an earlier release, you must also upgrade the service designs that Routing Director provides for infrastructure, resources (l2-addr, l3-addr, routing, topo, and vpn), and services (L3VPN, EVPN, EVPN-VPWS, and L2 circuit). The upgrade of your Routing Director installation is incomplete without upgrading the service designs.

    After you upgrade your setup to the current Routing Director release, upgrade the service, resource, and onboarding service designs versions to the following:

    To upgrade the service design versions:

    1. Click Orchestration > Instances.The Service Instances page appears.
    2. In the Service Instances table, select the service instance for which you want to upgrade the service design version.
    3. Click More > Upgrade Service Design.
    4. On the Upgrade Service Design dialog box, click the drop-down to select the service design version you want to upgrade to.
    5. Click Yes to confirm. You can view the status of the service design upgrade in the State column of the Service Instances table. The state is displayed as Processing when the upgrade is in process. After successful upgrade, the state is displayed as Success.
  2. Update the network implementation plan created in an earlier release to use the infrastructure service design version 0.14.46.

    1. Log in to the Routing Director GUI and obtain the organization ID.

      1. Click Settings Menu > System Settings on the banner.

        The Organization Settings page appears.

      2. Click Copy under Organization ID field.

    2. Select a plan and upgrade the service design to 0.14.46.

      1. On the Routing Director GUI, click Inventory > Device Onboarding > Network Implementation Plan.

        The Network Implementation Plan page appears.

      2. Select the plan that you want to update and click More > Upgrade Service Design.

        The Upgrade Service Design page appears.

      3. Select 0.14.46 from the drop-down list and click Yes.

        A confirmation message appears that the service design of the selected plans is upgraded to the selected service design version.

    3. If there are multiple network implementation plans, repeat steps 2.b for all plans.

    4. (Optional) On the Routing Director GUI, select the plan that you upgraded and edit the new parameters associated with the upgraded service design.

    5. Click Publish for the changes in the plan to be pushed to the devices in the plan.

      When you click Publish,

      • Resources are allocated again for the devices in the plan and

      • The service design version recorded in Placement Resources is matched with the service design version of the plan and the new configurations available with the new service design are pushed to the devices.

    6. Verify that the publish workflow for the plan is executed successfully and the Order Status of the plan is Success on the Network Implementation Plan page.
