Predefined User Roles Overview

Juniper Routing Assurance provides four predefined administrator roles and two predefined limited roles to manage access privileges of users, based on the tasks they need to perform.

A superuser creates an organization, adds users to predefined roles depending on the requirements of the organization. For example, an organization with a large number of networking devices would require multiple users performing different roles to efficiently manage the organization, whereas, in a small organization, a single user can perform the tasks to be carried out by users with all the roles.

Different types of users in an organization, such as a network architect, network planner, NOC engineer, and field technician, all derive their access privileges from the predefined roles assigned to them.

The following sections outline the various user roles and their access privileges.

Administrator Roles

User Roles and their Responsibilities

The four predefined roles are:

  • Super User

    • Is the administrator of the organization.

    • Manages organization-level settings and user access.

    • Creates organization, invites users, assigns user roles, creates sites, adopts devices, and so on.

    • Does not require high-level of networking domain expertise.

  • Network Admin

    • Is a networking expert who monitors, verifies, and troubleshoots within the assigned scope of an organization's network.

    • Has full access to the sites and site groups assigned to their role.

      If no sites or site groups are assigned, the Network Admin is granted organization-level access by default.

    • Can take corrective actions, perform configurations, and review performance metrics.

  • Observer

    • Monitors network events across the sites or site groups assigned to their role.

      If no sites or site groups are assigned, the Observer is granted organization-level read-only access by default.

    • Cannot take corrective action; escalates issues to the network administrator for resolution.

  • Helpdesk

    • Monitors events for assigned sites and site groups in the organization.

      Note: This role is not currently supported.

Limited Roles

The access privileges are limited for these role.

The predefined limited roles are:

  • Reporting

    • Can access all the analytics tools.

  • Super Observer

    • Monitor all sites within the organization.

    • Has read-only access to organization settings.
