About the L2 Network Page

You can access L2 Network page in the following ways:

  • Click Observability > Health > Health Dashboard > Active Assurance (Tab) > L2 Network (Accordion) > View Details.

  • Click Observability > Health > Health Dashboard > Active Assurance (Tab) > L2 Network (Accordion) > Plug-ins (click any KPI listed).

    You can view detailed information on the overall health of measurements related to Y.1731 DM and Y.1731 SLM plug-ins in your network.

The L2 Network page consists of a gauge chart, list of plug-ins and its KPIs, Overview tab, Timeline tab, Affected Items tab, and Distribution tab.

Tasks You Can Perform

You can perform the following tasks from this page:

  • View a gauge chart that displays the overall health of various measurements.

  • View a list of plug-ins (Y.1731 DM and Y.1731 SLM) and their KPIs that affect measurement health.

  • On the Overview tab:

    • View the percentage and total number of healthy and unhealthy measurements in the donut chart. The total number of measurements in the network is displayed in the middle of the donut chart.

  • On the Timeline tab:

    • View the percentage of healthy measurements for a predefined or a custom period on a graph. The graph is updated based on the KPIs that you select.

  • On the Affected Items tab:

    • View the details of Measurements, Test Agents, and Devices affected by the unhealthy measurements in the order of severity of the alerts generated.

  • The Distribution tab consists of the Metrics tab and Sites tab.

    • On the Metrics tab, view the details of unhealthy measurements grouped by plug-ins.

    • On the Sites tab, view the details of unhealthy measurements grouped by sites.

  • Click Clear Selection to clear all selected KPIs.

  • View the total number of measurements in the network on the top-right corner of the page.

  • View the time stamp of the last update or refresh (in DD/MM/YYYY hh:mm:ss AM/PM format) in the top-right corner of the tab. For Example: 07/12/2024 12:42:43 PM

  • Update the page by clicking the refresh icon.

  • On the Affected Items and Distribution tab, you can also:

    • Sort, resize, or re-arrange columns in a table (grid).

    • Show or hide columns in the table or reset page preferences, using the vertical ellipsis menu.

    • Search by using keywords—Click the search icon (magnifying glass), enter the search term in the text box, and press Enter. The search results are displayed on the same page.

    • Filter the data displayed in the table—Click the filter icon (funnel) and select whether you want to show or hide advanced filters. You can then add or remove filter criteria, save criteria as a filter, apply or clear filters, and so on. The filtered results are displayed on the same page.

Sections on the Page

The following topics describe the sections on the L2 Network page.

Gauge Chart

The gauge chart displays the overall health of measurements in terms of percentage. Hover over the chart to view the percentage of healthy measurements in relation to their overall health. The percentage of healthy measurements is also displayed below the chart. The percentage is 0 even if one measurement in the network is unhealthy or has an alert associated to it.

List of Plug-ins and KPIs

The plug-ins Y.1731 DM and Y.1731 SLM are listed next to the gauge chart. The overall health of a plug-in is displayed next to the plug-in itself. Click any plug-in to view more KPIs that affect the overall health of that plug-in. For more information on plug-ins, see Table 1.

For example, click Y.1731 DM to view other KPIs (such as Events, Metrics, and No data) that contribute to the overall percentage that is displayed. You can also view a second level and third level KPIs that affect the overall measurement health. For example, click the KPI Metrics to view metrics like Two-way delay frames and One-way delay frames that are related to the plug-in you selected and these are another related KPIs that affect the overall measurement health.

A total of two plug-ins are listed by default next to the gauge chart. To clear all selected KPIs, click Clear Selection.

Overview Tab

The Overview tab has the Measurements widget.

The Measurements widget displays the overall percentage of healthy and unhealthy measurements in a donut chart. However, when you select a plug-in from the list next to the gauge chart, the Measurements widget displays the overall health of the measurements in relation to that plug-in. The total number of measurements in the network is displayed in the middle of the chart. Healthy measurements are highlighted in green in the donut chart, and unhealthy measurements are highlighted in red. Hover over the green portion of the donut chart to view the percentage and total number of healthy measurements. Hover over the red portion of the donut chart to view the percentage and total number of unhealthy measurements.

Timeline Tab

The Timeline tab displays the percentage of healthy measurements for a predefined (a week, a day, 3 hours, 1 hour, 30 minutes) or a custom period on a graph. By default, performance for the past 30 minutes is displayed. To change this period, click the Week, Day, 3 hrs, 1 hr, 30 mins, or Custom buttons provided above the graph.

You can also use the range picker provided above the graph to view information for a predefined or custom period. You can click the arrows provided on either side of the range picker to move between ranges. For example, click the Week button to view device health information for a week. Click the arrow on the left of the range picker to view information for the previous week. Click the arrow on the right of range picker to view information for the following week.

Data lines for the overall measurements and measurements in relation to individual plug-ins are displayed on the graph by default. Hover over any point on the line graph to view the percentage health for that particular point. When you select a plug-in from the list next to the gauge chart, the graph is updated to only show the overall health of the device in relation to that plug-in. Click any KPI to view a data line in the assigned color on the graph. Click Clear Selection to clear all selected KPIs.

Affected Items Tab

The Affected Items tab consists of the Measurements, Test Agents, and Devices tabs.

  • The Measurements tab displays details of unhealthy measurements in the order of severity of the alerts generated. The various alerts are Action Needed and Urgent Action needed.

  • The Test Agents tab displays details of Test Agents associated with the unhealthy measurements in the order of severity of the alerts generated. The various alerts are Action Needed and Urgent Action needed.

  • The Devices tab displays details of devices associated with the unhealthy measurement in the order of severity of the alerts generated. The various alerts are Action Needed and Urgent Action needed.

Distribution Tab

The Distribution tab consists of the Metrics and Sites tabs.

The Metrics tab displays the list and details of unhealthy measurements grouped by metrics. The details on this tab are updated based on the KPIs that you select. You can view details such as name, affected measurements, total measurement, and health.

The Sites tab displays the details of unhealthy measurements grouped by sites. A site is the location of a device in an organization. The details on this tab are updated based on the KPIs that you select. You can view the name and the total number of affected measurements.
