Upgrade kLWC

Use this procedure to upgrade an existing kLWC instance to a newer version using an updated kLWC package.

The upgrade process replaces the existing instance with a new version while retaining the configured instance name and settings.

Warning:

The upgrade process stops the VM and recreates the instance using the new package file. Any changes made directly inside the VM may be lost.

To upgrade an existing kLWC to a new version:
  1. Log in to the Ubuntu host and navigate to the kLWC Manager directory.
  2. Upload the kLWC upgrade package to the directory.

Copy the kLWC .tgz package you received from HPE into the packages directory.

    Use this command to copy:

    To verify the upload:

    Note:

Ensure correct ownership and read permissions for the user running kLWC Manager.

  3. Update the instance configuration.

Edit the configuration of the kLWC instance to use the new package file.

Update the Package File field to the new .tgz file and confirm the changes.

  4. Run the upgrade command.

During the upgrade, the kLWC manager will stop the running VM, undefine the VM from the KVM, delete existing instance files, and extract the new package, recreate the instance using the updated package and restart the VM.

  5. Verify the upgrade.

    To view logs:

    Note:
    • Ensure the new package file is present in the packages directory before starting the upgrade.
    • Verify sufficient system resources are available.
    • Confirm that network bridge configurations remain unchanged.
