Reinstall kLWC on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Use this topic to understand how to reinstall or redeploy an existing kLWC instance in an Ubuntu 22.04 LTS environment.

Note:

These steps apply to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and may differ for other Linux distributions.

Reinstallation is typically required when:

  • The kLWC VM is not functioning correctly
  • You need to reset the instance to its default state
  • You want to redeploy using the existing package
Note: When you reinstall a kLWC instance using the -update option:

  • The VM is stopped and undefined

  • The instance directory is deleted
  • The instance is recreated using the existing package file
  • The VM is started automatically

Reinstallation resets the instance to its default state. Any runtime changes made inside the VM are lost.

To reinstall kLWC on Ubuntu 22.04:

  1. Log in to the Ubuntu host and navigate to the kLWC Manager directory.
  2. Run the reinstall command.
    During reinstalltion, the kLWC Manager performs the following actions automatically:

    • Stop and remove the VM: Shuts down the running VM, undefines the VM from KVM.

    • Clean the instance: Deletes all files in the instance directory

    • Recreate the instance: Extracts the .tgz package, validates the image using MD5 checksum, generates a new params.img, and recreates the VM using the configuration.

    • Start the VM: Launches the kLWC instance using KVM

    • Ensure the package file exists in /opt/klwc/packages
