Configure SSH Public Key Authentication on the SRXs

ConnectorOps uses SSH public key authentication to connect to the SRXs.

To set up public key authentication, you create an RSA key pair on the VM/host/server where ConnectorOps is installed, then configure the public key on each SRX.

  1. On the VM/host/server where ConnectorOps is installed, generate an RSA key pair. We recommend a 4096-bit key for enhanced security.
  2. Set the permissions on the key files.
The following two files are generated:
    • – srx_connector_key: the private key. Store this file in a secure location.

    • – srx_connector_key.pub: the public key, which you configure on the SRX.

  3. Log in to each SRX, create a user account with super-user privileges, configure the ConnectorOps public key for that user, then commit the configuration.
    Note:

For successful authentication, the username in the Property Set must match the username for which the SSH public key is configured on the SRX.

After completing this process, you must mount the private key in the ConnectorOps container where you create the docker-compose.yml.
