To update a rack type using the GUI:
-
From the left navigation menu, navigate to Design > Rack Type
and click the Edit button in the Actions panel for the rack
type to update.
The Edit Rack Type dialog opens.
-
Make your changes. (The user interface is very similar to when you're creating a rack
type.)
Note:
Did you create a rack type in Rack Type Builder in a previous version?
Did it include access switch pair peer links with a specified port-channel ID range
(min and max)?
Rack Type Builder was deprecated in version 6.0.0, so all rack types are now
opened in the Rack Type Designer, which doesn't preserve the port-channel IDs
that were specified in the Builder. Because of this, when you initially open
that rack type in version 6.0, the PC-ID values are spread across the various members
of the access-switch group.
-
Click Update (bottom-right).
The rack type in the Design catalog is updated and you're
returned to the Rack Types table view.
Note:
Changing rack types in the Design catalog doesn't affect rack types that have
already been embedded into templates (or blueprints that were created from those
templates).
If your intent is for a template to use a modified rack type, then after updating
the rack type in the Design catalog you must update the template and change the
specified rack type there.
To change a rack type used in a blueprint, update the rack and replace the rack type with
the modified one (Blueprint > Staged > Physical > Racks).
