Connect SSR1400 to External Devices

SSR1400 has a console port and a management port. You can configure and manage the SSR1400 appliance using the console port.

CAUTION:

The SSR platform is rated for indoor-only, short cable use, and should not be connected directly to a network provider circuit (e.g., cellular modem with externally mounted antenna) without the use of a surge protector.

To protect against surges over management, console, and LAN ports it is strongly recommended to install a port surge protection device such as the Lanner Surge Protector, LSP-SGP401. Contact your sales team to order the device.

Proper grounding and use of surge protection devices are strongly recommended for all SSR devices.

Connect SSR1400 to a Management Console

SSR1400 has a console port with an RJ-45 connector. Use the console port to connect the appliance to a management console or to a console server.

RJ-45 to USB A serial cable is provided with the appliance.

To connect the SSR1400 appliance to a management console:

  1. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the console port.
  2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the console server (see Figure 1) or management console (see Figure 2).
