Use the CONSOLE port on the services gateway
to connect to a management console. The CONSOLE port accepts a cable
that has an RJ-45 connector.
To connect the services gateway to a management console:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to the ESD point on the
chassis.
- Connect the RJ-45 end of the DB9-to-RJ-45 cable into the
CONSOLE port on your services gateway.
- Connect the other end of the cable to the serial port
on the management device.
- Start your asynchronous terminal emulation application
(such as Microsoft Windows HyperTerminal) and select the appropriate
COM port to use (for example, COM1).
- Configure the serial port settings:
Baud rate—9600
Parity—N
Data bits—8
Stop bits—1
Flow control—none
