QFX5250 Power System
The liquid-cooled model is powered by the ORv3 rack and does not have a power supply unit.
Liquid-cooled Model Power Specifications
The liquid-cooled QFX5250 model (QFX5250-64OE-L) is powered by the ORv3 racks. The IT Gear Input Connector on the switch draws power from the busbar on the ORv3 rack. The switch converts the 46 V through 56 V voltage input from the ORv3 standard rack to produce a maximum power output of 4300 W.
The typical power consumption of the QFX5250 liquid-cooled switch is 3375 W and the maximum power consumption is 3435 W.

DC-to-DC Power Bricks
The ORV3-compliant QFX5250 liquid-cooled switches are equipped with three DC-to-DC power bricks. Each brick receives 51 V DC from the busbar to produce an output voltage of 12 V DC. Each DC-to-DC power brick is rated at 1600 W. There is no redundancy available for DC-to-DC power bricks.
When a DC brick failure is detected by the QFX5250 switch, power to the optics is immediately disabled. If the failure occurs during the switch power‑up, the optics are not enabled. This significantly reduces overall power consumption, allowing the CPU subsystem to continue operating. However, if the available power is insufficient, the system initiates a power-off after a maximum of three retries.
The CPU subsystem remains operational until the QFX5250 switch power-off. The CPU subsystem uses Junos EVO software to log the fault condition, report errors, and raise alarms.
