Channelization on the QFX5250

Breakout capability or port channelization is the ability to split a high-capacity optical link into multiple lower-capacity links. To achieve the split, use breakout cables with suitable connectors. You can split the high-speed ports on your device into multiple low-speed ports using channelization.

The QFX5250 switch supports the following breakout speed or mode options for its ports:

  • 1x1600G

  • 1x800G

  • 2x800G

  • 2x400G

  • 4x400G

  • 4x200G

  • 8X200G

  • 8x100G

Note:

When booting a fully-loaded QFX5250 switch with optics, the expected interface bring-up times for the supported breakout modes are as follows:

  • 1600G mode—3 minutes 25 seconds (64 interfaces)

  • 2×800G mode—3 minutes 2 seconds (128 interfaces)

  • 4×400G mode—3 minutes 18 seconds (256 interfaces)

  • 8×200G mode—7 minutes 47 seconds (512 interfaces)
