QFX5140 Ports and Interfaces
This topic describes the ports on the QFX5140 and their corresponding Junos OS Evolved interfaces.
Network Ports on the QFX5140
QFX5140 provides 24 QSFP112 ports and 8 OSFP800 ports on the front panel, supporting speeds from 100G to 800G.- Total switching capacity: 16 Tbps

QSFP112 ports: 100G, 200G, 400G, breakout options (2×50G, 4×50G, 4×100G, 2×200G, 25G with QSA28 adapter).

OSFP800 ports: 100G, 400G, 800G, breakout options (2×400G, 8×100G, 4×200G).

Two SFP28 ports support 10G and 25G.

Channelization (Port Breakout)
QFX5140 supports flexible channelization, allowing a single physical port to operate as multiple independent logical interfaces. This capability maximizes port density and enables fine-grained bandwidth allocation.
Channelization is performed by splitting the electrical lanes of a port into independent logical channels.
QSFP112 Channelization
Each QSFP112 port supports up to 4 logical channels, depending on configuration.

- Each channel appears as an independent interface
- Breakout requires supported optics or fan-out cables
- Lane-to-interface mapping is fixed by hardware design
OSFP800 Channelization
Each OSFP800 port supports up to 8 logical channels, offering higher density and flexibility.

Interface Naming on the QFX5140

All ports are phy-less and directly connected to the ASIC. Logical interfaces are created dynamically based on port configuration.
