Access iDRAC on a Juniper Mist Edge Device

The Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) is used for system management, monitoring, and maintenance.

You can connect your computer directly to a Juniper Mist Edge device using iDRAC. The dedicated iDRAC port is located on the rear panel of your Mist Edge device. You can also use the iDRAC direct port, which is a micro-USB port on the front panel of your Mist Edge device.

To access iDRAC:

  1. Ensure that your computer is not connected to any wireless or wired networks. Turn off the wireless networks.
  2. Connect the dedicated iDRAC port to your computer using an Ethernet cable.

Alternatively, you can connect the micro-USB port to your computer by using a USB cable.

    Note:

When iDRAC is using the micro-USB port, the LED next to the port blinks green with a frequency of 4 blinks per second. When you disconnect the USB cable, the LED turns off.

  3. Check the acquired iDRAC IP address on the DHCP server or using the LCD panel on the Mist Edge device.

iDRAC acquires an IP address from a connected switch using DHCP. If DHCP fails, iDRAC will acquire a zero-configuration IP address between 169.254.1.0 and 169.254.254.255.

You can ping iDRAC to confirm that it is connected.

  4. To connect to the iDRAC web interface, open a browser window and enter the iDRAC IP address in the address bar.
The iDRAC login screen comes up.
  5. Enter the username root and the iDRAC password.
The iDRAC password is located on the back of the pull-out information tab on the front panel.
The iDRAC web interface comes up.
  6. Click on the Virtual Console and log in to the Mist Edge device. The username is mist and the password is the claim code of the device.
The claim code is located above the QR code on the pull-out information tab.

Now that you have configured the iDRAC web interface, you can access it using the iDRAC IP address.

  1. Open a web browser and enter https://<iDRAC-IP>/console.

  2. Log in to iDRAC using the credentials mentioned above in step 5.

  3. To configure your device, log in to the console by using the Mist Edge login credentials mentioned above in step 6.
