LWC Overview

LWC Description

The Juniper Networks® Lightweight Collector (LWC) is a data collection tool. The LWC securely gathers operational data from Juniper devices in customer networks and sends that data to the Juniper cloud. The LWC device is part of Juniper Support Insight (JSI), a cloud-based solution, that provides IT and network operations teams with actionable operational insights into Junos devices on customer networks. JSI aims to transform the customer support experience by providing insights that help improve the network performance and uptime.

Ports Used
  • The following two 1GbE/10GbE SFP+ uplink ports:
    • Port 0 (interface name: xe-0/0/12) connects to the internal network (that is, to network devices or a bastion host).
    • Port 1 (interface name: xe-0/0/13) connects to the external network (Juniper cloud).
  • The 1-Gigabit RJ-45 network port labeled 0 (interface name: ge-0/0/0.0) connects to the captive portal.

We've disabled the following ports:

  • The ports ranging from 1 through 11
  • The management (MGMT) port

Only Juniper Networks resident engineers have access to the console (CON) port.

Supported SFP Modules
  • CTP–SFP-1GE–T (the default SFP modules provided with the LWC)
  • EX-SFP-10GE-SR
  • EX-SFP-10GE–LR

We ship two SFP modules (2 x CTP-SFP-1GE-T) with the LWC device. You must provide the corresponding two terminating SFP modules.
