Understanding the vGW Security Design VM

The vGW Series includes a management server called the vGW Security Design VM. The vGW Security Design VM provides security policy manipulation, network traffic analysis, and detailed information about your environment that you use regularly. It also allows you to create firewall policies and install them on vGW Security VMs on ESX/ESXi hosts to secure them.

You use the vGW Security Design VM management center to configure the vGW. You must use a Web interface browser to access the vGW Security Design VM. You can obtain the IP address required to access the vGW Security Design VM by clicking the Summary tab of the vGW Security Design VM appliance in VMware.

After you initially bring up the vGW Security Design VM, you can access it by entering admin for the username and entering the password that was set during installation. To log out of the vGW Security Design VM, click logout in the upper right corner of the vGW Security Design VM screen.

When you log in to the vGW Security Design VM, the Main module page appears showing its Dashboard tab. See Figure 14.
