Configuring QoS and Rate Limiting

Each BSG instance includes an embedded SPDF that includes one or more service classes that you can use to configure quality of service (QoS) and rate limiting for the BSG. Service classes contain rules that pertain to the treatment of bandwidth for various media types. After you create a service class, you apply it to a new call usage policy.

Note: Assigning maximum values to both committed-information-rate and committed-burst-size results in no rate limit being applied to gates for the service class.

To configure QoS and rate limiting:

  1. Create a service class and assign it a name.

  2. Add a term to the service class and assign it a name.

  3. Specify the type of media that you want to match to this service class.

  4. Specify the QoS parameters or other actions to be performed on media that match this service class.

  5. Apply the service class to a new call usage policy.
