Before You Begin

Before you begin configuring VPNs, perform the following tasks:

• Determine which Services Routers are participating in the VPN configuration. This chapter describes configuring an interface for basic VPN connectivity. To configure an interface, see Ethernet Interfaces.

• Determine the protocols to use in the VPN configuration. These protocols include
  • MPLS—See MPLS and VPN Terms and the Junos Routing Protocols Configuration Guide.
  • BGP, EBGP, and internal BGP (IBGP)—See BGP and the Junos Routing Protocols Configuration Guide.
  • LDP and Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP)—See Traffic Engineering and the Junos MPLS Applications Configuration Guide.
  • OSPF—See OSPF and the Junos Routing Protocols Configuration Guide.
