J4300 and J6300 Removable Compact Flash Drive

The slot labeled COMPACT FLASH on the front panel of the Services Router (see Figure 13) is a removable compact flash drive that accepts a type I or II compact flash disk, as defined in the CompactFlash Specification published by the CompactFlash Association. When the removable compact flash disk is installed and configured, it automatically acts as the secondary boot device if the primary compact flash drive fails on startup.

Depending on the capacity of the removable compact flash disk, you can also configure it to receive any core files generated during a failure. For information about configuring a removable compact flash disk, see the J-series Services Router Administration Guide.

The IN USE LED indicates that the removable compact flash is being accessed. Table 11 describes the meaning of the LED states.
