Configuring a Channelized T1 or E1 interface with a Configuration Editor

Each port on a channelized T1 or E1 PIM is software configurable either as a T1 interface or an E1 interface. Each channelized T1 and E1 interface can be configured as a single clear channel, or for fractional (NxDS0) or channelized operation, where N is channels 1 to 32 for an E1 interface and channels 1 to 24 for a T1 interface.

On a channelized T1/E1 PIM configured for channelized operation, you can use the "drop-and-insert" feature to integrate voice and data on a single T1 or E1 link, and save the cost of two lines.

Channelized T1 and E1 interfaces are configured through a configuration editor only.

If you have not configured a channelized T1 or E1 interface, by default you can view the channelized T1 interface (for example, ct1-3/0/0) when the channelized T1/E1 PIM is plugged in. You can monitor the interface through the J-Web Monitor>Interface page. To configure a channelized T1 or E1 interface, you must use the J-Web or CLI configuration editor.

A channelized T1 or E1 interface supports CoS configuration. For information about CoS features, see the J-series Services Router Advanced WAN Access Configuration Guide.
