Compressed Real-Time Transport Protocol (CRTP)
Protocol defined in RFC 2508 that compresses the size of IP, UDP, and
Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) headers and works with reliable and fast
point-to-point links for voice over IP (VoIP) traffic.
data-link connection identifier (DLCI)
Identifier for a Frame Relay virtual connection, also called a logical
interface.
link fragmentation and interleaving (LFI)
For MLFR with Frame Relay traffic or MLPPP with PPP traffic, a method
of reducing excessive delays by fragmenting long packets into smaller packets
and interleaving them with real-time frames. For example, short delay-sensitive
packets, such as those of packetized voice, can race ahead of larger delay-insensitive
packets, such as common data packets.
link services
Capabilities on an interface that use Multilink Frame Relay (MLFR) and
Multilink Point-to-Point Protocol (MLPPP), link fragmentation and interleaving
(LFI), Compressed Real-Time Transport Protocol (CRTP), and certain class-of-service
(CoS) components to improve packet transmission, especially for time-sensitive
voice packets.
Multilink Frame Relay (MLFR)
Protocol that allows multiple Frame Relay links to be aggregated by
inverse multiplexing.
Multilink Point-to-Point Protocol (MLPPP)
Protocol that allows you to bundle multiple Point-to-Point Protocol
(PPP) links into a single logical unit. MLPPP improves bandwidth efficiency
and fault tolerance and reduces latency.
Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)
Link-layer protocol defined in RFC 1661 that provides multiprotocol
encapsulation. PPP is used for link-layer and network-layer configuration.
shaping rate
In class of service (CoS) classification, a method of controlling the
maximum rate of traffic transmitted on an interface.
