Configuring PPPoE Encapsulation on an Ethernet Interface

Both the client and the server must be configured to support PPPoE.

To configure PPPoE encapsulation on an Ethernet interface:

  1. Navigate to the top of the configuration hierarchy in either the J-Web or CLI configuration editor.
  2. Perform the configuration tasks described in Table 37.
  3. If you are finished configuring the router, commit the configuration.
  4. Go on to one of the following procedures:

Navigate to the Interfaces level in the configuration hierarchy.

In the configuration editor hierarchy select Interfaces.

From the top of the configuration hierarchy, enter

edit interfaces

Configure encapsulation on a logical Ethernet interface—for example, fe-0/0/1.0.

  1. In the Interface name box, click fe-0/0/1.
  2. In the Interface unit number box, click 0.
  3. From the Encapsulation list, select ppp-over-ether.
  4. Click OK.

Set PPP encapsulation on unit 0 of the Ethernet interface:

set fe-0/0/1 unit 0 encapsulation ppp-over-ether
