Before You Begin

Before you begin configuring firewall filters, complete the following tasks:

• If you do not already have an understanding of firewall filters, read Firewall Filter Overview.
• Before you begin configuring stateful firewall filters and NAT, you must configure the interfaces on which to apply these services. To configure an interface, see Configuring Network Interfaces.

  Unlike a stateful firewall filter, you can configure a stateless firewall filter before configuring the interfaces on which they are applied.
