Description
Set the default IPv4 or IPv6 address for the gateway for end hosts. You eliminate the need to proxy for remote gateway IP addresses because you must configure the virtual gateway address using the same IP address as on all of the provider edge (PE) devices. This configuration internally generates the same Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) MAC. You can set a corresponding virtual gateway address for each logical integrated routing and bridging (IRB) interface. A maximum of 64 PEs can have the same virtual gateway address.
To support pinging on the virtual gateway IP address, you must
include both the virtual-gateway-accept-data statement
and the preferred statement at the [edit interfaces
irb unit] hierarchy of the preferred virtual gateway.
Options
address—virtual gateway address. You can't specify the
addresses 0.0.0.0 (default route address) or 255.255.255.255 (broadcast IP
address).
