Maintaining IOCs and SPCs

The device can have up to 6 I/O cards (IOCs) and Services Processing Cards (SPCs) mounted horizontally in the card cage at the front of the chassis, as shown in Figure 1. To maintain IOCs and SPCs, perform the following procedures regularly:

• Check the LEDs on the craft interface corresponding to each IOC and SPC slot. The green LED labeled OK lights steadily when an IOC or SPC is functioning normally. For more information, see IOC and SPC LEDs.
• Check the OK/FAIL LED on the faceplate of each IOC and SPC. For more information, see Table 4 and Table 5. If the IOC or SPC detects a failure, it sends an alarm message to the Routing Engine.
• Issue the CLI show chassis fpc command to check the status of installed IOC and SPCs. As shown in the sample output, the value Online in the column labeled State indicates that the IOC or SPC is functioning normally:
