Connect the JCS 1200 Management Module to a Client Computer Through a Serial Connection

To connect the management module to a client computer using a serial port:

1. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis. For more information about ESD, see the JCS 1200 Platform Hardware Guide.
2. Plug one end of an RJ-45 serial cable into the serial port on the management module. See Figure 8 for the location of ports on the management module.

3. Connect the other end of the serial cable to the serial connector of the client computer, such as a notebook computer.
4. Configure the serial port of the client computer to the following values:
   • Baud rate—57600
   • Parity—none
   • Stop bits—1
