Monitoring the Junos Pulse Gateway Components Using LEDs

Table 1: Component LEDs on the Junos Pulse Gateway

    LED

    State

    Meaning

    Possible Causes and Corrective Actions

    Activity LED

    Blinking Yellow

The hard drive is being accessed

Normal condition. No action is required.

    Off

    The device is starting up.

Normal condition. No action is required.

    Alarm LED

    Red

The device detects a major alarm, such as overheating.

A major alarm indicates a critical situation on the gateway that requires immediate action. Contact Juniper Networks Technical Support.

    Blinking Red

The fan has stopped or the fan tray has been removed.

Ensure that the fan tray is properly inserted into the back of the chassis. If the fan tray is properly inserted and is still not functioning, replace the fan tray. If you do not have a spare fan tray or need more assistance, contact Juniper Networks Technical Support.

    Off

    The device is starting up.

Note: When the system is up and running, if the Alarm LED is off, it indicates that no alarms are present on the device.

Normal condition. No action is required.

    Power LED

    Green

The device is receiving power and is functioning normally.

Normal condition. No action is required

    Off

The device is not receiving power

Normal condition if the Junos Pulse Gateway is switched off. No action is required.

If you have not powered off the Junos Pulse Gateway, verify that the AC power cord from the power source to the device is not damaged, the socket is in working condition, and the device has an AC input voltage between 110 and 240 VAC.

On the MAG6610 and MAG6611, the hard drive and RAID status LEDs are located on the back panel.

    Possible Causes and Corrective Actions

    Activity

    Green

    Activity

    No action required.

    Off

    No activity

    No action required.

    RAID Status

    Solid red

    RAID drive has failed

Replace RAID hard drive. Contact Juniper Networks Technical Support.

    Blinking red

    RAID activity

    No action required.

    Off

    RAID drive is functioning properly

    No action required.

An AC power supply has one bicolor LED on its faceplate. This LED displays information about the status of the power supply.

Table 3 describes the LED on an AC power supply in a Junos Pulse Gateway.

Table 3: AC Power Supply LED on the Junos Pulse Gateway

    LED State

    Description

    Unlit

    Indicates one of the following:

    • Power supply is disconnected from AC power feed.
    • AC power input voltage is not within normal operating range.
    • No AC power input.

    Green

On steadily—Power supply is functioning normally.

    Amber

On steadily—Power supply is receiving power but is not supplying power to the chassis.

    Audible Alerts

In addition to LEDs, the MAG6610 and MAG6611 have audible cues to alert you of possible errors. Failures with either the fan tray or power supply will result in audible beeps.
