    Replacing a Storage Drive on VXA Series Content Engines

    To replace a storage drive:

    1. Disable and deactivate the storage drive.

      See “Replace a Bad Disk” in the Junos Content Encore Administrator’s Guide and CLI Command Reference.

    2. Remove the storage drive.

      1. Issue the reload halt command to halt the appliance.
      2. Power off the appliance.
      3. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the appliance.

      4. Unfasten the two thumbscrews that secure the access door in front of the storage drive slots, and swing the door to the left.
      5. Rotate the lock on the ejector to the unlocked position.
      6. Push the ejector handle and pull the ejector handle outward to the open position.
      7. Carefully slide the drive out of the slot.
    3. Reinstall a storage drive.

      1. Carefully align the sides of the drive with the guides in the slot.
      2. Slide the drive into the slot until you feel resistance, carefully ensuring that it is correctly aligned.
      3. Grasp the ejector handle, and rotate it clockwise until the drive is fully seated.
      4. Rotate the lock on the ejector to the locked position.
      5. Close the access door and tighten the thumbscrews to secure the door.
    4. Mount the new storage drive.
