Removing Components from a JCS 1200 Chassis

To remove components from a JCS 1200 chassis:

1. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
2. Power off any Routing Engines in the JCS 1200 platform (see Powering Off a JCS 1200 Routing Engine).
3. Disconnect the power from the JCS 1200 platform (see Disconnecting Power from the JCS1200 Platform ).
4. Remove the following components from the front of the JCS 1200 platform:
   • Switch modules: Pull the handle on each switch module or filler to the open position and remove the module or filler (see Removing a JCS 1200 Switch Module or Module Filler).
   • Management modules: Pull the handle on each management module or filler to the open position and remove the module or filler (see Removing a JCS 1200 Management Module or Module Filler).
5. Disengage the following components from the JCS 1200 midplane using the procedure indicated:

   Note: Make sure each component is pulled out of the JCS 1200 platform at least 1 in. (2.54 cm).

   • Routing Engines: Pull the two release handles on each Routing Engine to the open position (see Removing a JCS 1200 Routing Engine).
   • Power modules: Pull the handle on each power module or filler to the open position (see Removing a JCS 1200 Power Module).
   • Media tray: Pull the handle on each media tray or filler to the open position (see Removing a JCS 1200 Media Tray).
6. Remove the fan shuttle from the JCS 1200 platform (see Removing a JCS 1200 Fan Shuttle).
7. Remove the upper and lower power boxes from the rear of the JCS 1200 chassis (see Removing a JCS 1200 Power Box).
8. If you are instructed to return the chassis, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
