Chassis and Interface Alarm Messages on the SRX 210 Services Gateway

When the services gateway detects an alarm condition, it lights the red or yellow alarm LED on the front panel as appropriate. To view a more detailed description of the alarm cause, issue the show chassis alarms CLI command.

There are two classes of alarm messages:

  • Chassis alarms—Indicate a problem with a chassis component such as the cooling system or power supply.
  • Interface alarms—Indicate a problem with a specific network interface.

Examples:

regress@jaky# run show chassis alarms

Table 1 describes alarms that can occur for an SRX 210 services gateway chassis component.

Boot media

The services gateway boots from an alternate boot device.

If the internal flash fails at startup, the services gateway automatically boots itself from the alternative boot device (USB storage device).

If you configured your services gateway to boot from an alternative boot device, ignore this alarm condition.

If you did not configure the services gateway to boot from an alternative boot device, contact JTAC. See Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center .

Yellow (minor)

Mini-Physical Interface Module (Mini-PIM)

A Mini-PIM has failed.

Contact JTAC. See Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center .

If you must replace the failed Mini-PIM, see the following topics for replacing Mini-Pims:

Red (major)

Hardware components on services gateway

An error occurred during the process of reading or writing to the NAND flash.

Reformat the NAND flash and install a bootable image. (See the JUNOS Software with Enhanced Services Administration Guide.)

If this remedy fails, contact JTAC. See Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center .

Yellow (minor)

The services gateway chassis temperature is too warm

Yellow (minor)

The services gateway fan has failed.

Place your hand near the exhaust vents at the rear of the chassis to determine whether the fan is pushing air out of the chassis.

Replace the failed fan. Contact JTAC. See Juniper Networks Technical Assistance Center .

Red (major)

Note: For more information on the alarms, see the JUNOS Software with Enhanced Services Administration Guide.
