Use Case Overview
QFabric Systems were a revolutionary change to data center network operations designs. The single management, control, and data plane that supported thousands of endpoints with the flexibility to support Layer 2 and Layer 3 forwarding was an evolutionary simplification to data center network designs.
Data center technology and standards have evolved. Network operators are increasingly leveraging standards-based IP Fabric designs with simplified Layer 2 overlay technologies over topologies with proprietary requirements. IP Fabric topologies allow data center network operators to deploy new networking technologies, including VXLAN overlays and 25-Gbps server access, into their topologies without having to replace or redesign any portion of their data center architecture. This flexibility along with other advantages, such as the ability to easily scale the data center to meet increasing network capacity demands, makes the transition to IP Fabric topologies an important data center architecture reality.
This document provides the instructions to migrate from a QFabric System to an IP Fabric that supports EVPN-VXLAN.
