Maintaining the Fan Trays
Purpose
For optimum cooling, verify the status of the fans.
The speed of the fans in the rear fan tray of a T1600 router is affected by the temperature of the TXP-T1600 SIB main board (displayed as SIB n ), not by the temperature of the TXP-T1600 SIB mezzanine board [displayed as SIB n (B)].
Action
On a regular basis:
- Check the fan tray LEDs on the craft interface. During
normal operation:
The
OK
LEDs for the fan trays are lit green. The
FAIL
LEDs for the fan trays are off.
- Look at the LCD on the craft interface to view information about the TX Matrix Plus router temperature.
- Issue the show chassis temperature-thresholds commands.
- Display the status of the fans in the TX Matrix Plus router. Issue the show chassis environment sfc 0 command. During normal operations, the fans in each fan tray are functioning at less than full speed.
- Display the status of the fans in the routing matrix (TX Matrix Plus router and all T1600 routers). Issue the show chassis environment command.
- Display the status of the fans in a specific T1600 router. Issue the show chassis environment lcc lcc-number command, where lcc-number is the chassis ID of the router and can be from 0 through 3.
