    Troubleshooting the T1600 Routing Engines

    Problem

The following alarms and LEDs indicate a problem with a Routing Engine:

    • A red alarm indicates that the host subsystem has been removed.
    • A yellow alarm indicates that the host subsystem has failed.
    • The red host subsystem FAIL LED on the craft interface is lit.
    • The ONLINE LED on the RE-C1800 is lit red or is off.
    • The ONLINE LED on the RE-2000 is lit red or is off.

    Solution

    1. Issue the show chassis alarms command to display Routing Engine or host subsystem alarms.
    2. Check the ONLINE LED on the RE-2000 and RE-C1800 Routing Engine faceplate.

Note: The RE-600 and RE-1600 do not have an ONLINE LED.

    3. If the ONLINE LED is red, or the FAIL LED on the craft interface is red:
      • For a standalone T1600 router, issue the issue the chassis routing-engine command to check the status of the Routing Engine.
        user@host> show chassis routing-engine
        Routing Engine status:
          Slot 0:
            Current state Master

            Temperature 32 degrees C / 89 degrees F
            CPU temperature 33 degrees C / 91 degrees F
            DRAM 2048 MB

              User 0 percent

      • For a T1600 router in a routing matrix, issue the chassis routing-engine lcc number command from the TX Matrix plus router.

Replace number with a value from 0 through 3 for the line-card chassis (lcc).

        user@host> show chassis routing-engine lcc 0
