    Upgrading to TXP-LCC-3D SIBs in a Line-Card Chassis (TXP-T1600-3D, TXP-T4000-3D, and TXP-Mixed-LCC-3D Configuration)

Before you connect an LCC to the TX Matrix Plus router with TXP-F13-3D SIBs, you must upgrade the SIBs in the LCC. Five SIBs are installed in the rear of the LCC in the slots labeled SIB0 through SIB4.

To determine if the TXP-LCC-3D SIBs are required for your configuration, see the following documentation:

    1. Verify that the SIB is offline:
    2. Gather the tools needed to upgrade to TXP-LCC-3D SIBs.
      • Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2
      • Small slotted screwdriver, at least 4 in. long (for the TXP-T1600 SIB ports)
      • Dust-free resealable plastic bags for temporary storage of switching plane port and cable dust covers
      • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding wrist strap
      • Antistatic mat or an antistatic bag for each SIB being removed
    3. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
    4. Loosen the captive screws (using a Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2) on the ejector handles on each side of the SIB faceplate.
    5. Flip the ejector handles outward to unseat the SIB.
    6. Grasp both ejector handles, pull firmly, and slide the SIB about three-quarters of the way out of the chassis.
    7. Place one hand underneath the SIB to support it, and slide it completely out of the chassis. Place the SIB on the antistatic mat or in the antistatic bag.

Caution: Do not stack hardware components on one another after you remove them. Place each component on an antistatic mat resting on a stable, flat surface.

      Each SIB weighs approximately:

      • T640 Standard SIB—6.8 lb (3.10 kg)
      • T640 Standard SIB version B—6.8 lb (3.1 kg)
      • T1600-SIB—6.5 lb (3 kg)
      • TXP-T1600-SIB—10.2 lb (4.6 kg)
      • T4000-SIB—6.5 lb (3 kg)
    8. Place one hand underneath the TXP-LCC-3D SIB (see Figure 5) to support it. With the other hand, hold one of the ejector handles on the SIB faceplate.

Note: Each TXP-LCC-3D SIB weighs approximately 9.4 lb (4.2 kg).

    9. Lift the TXP-LCC-3D SIB into place, and carefully align the left and right edges with the guides inside the chassis.
    10. Slide the TXP-LCC-3D SIB into the chassis, carefully ensuring that it is correctly aligned.
    11. Grasp both ejector handles, and press them inward to seat the TXP-LCC-3D SIB.

Note: Ensure that the ejector handle tabs are properly mated inside their corresponding chassis slots before you tighten the captive screws on the ejector handles. You might have to close and open the handles a few times before the tabs catch the slots.

    12. Tighten the captive screws on the ejector handles.
    13. Upgrade the remaining SIBs when instructed to do so in the following procedures:
