Upgrading to TXP-T1600 SIBs in a T1600 Router (TXP-T1600 Configuration)

Before you connect an offline T1600 router to the TX Matrix Plus router, you must replace the SIBs. To determine which SIBs are required for your configuration, see the following documentation, see Hardware and Software Requirements for a T1600 Line-Card Chassis in a TX Matrix Plus Routing Matrix

Five SIBs are located in the rear of the chassis in the slots marked SIB0 through SIB4. Each standard-SIB weighs approximately 6.5 lb (3 kg). Each TXP-T1600 SIB weighs approximately 10.2 lb (4.6 kg).

    1. Verify that the SIB is offline:
    2. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
    3. Loosen the captive screws (using a Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2) on the ejector handles on each side of the T1600-SIB faceplate (see Figure 1).
    4. Flip the ejector handles outward to unseat the T1600-SIB.
    5. Grasp both ejector handles, pull firmly, and slide the T1600-SIB about three-quarters of the way out of the chassis.
    6. Place one hand underneath the T1600-SIB to support it, and slide it completely out of the chassis. Place it on the antistatic mat.

Caution: Do not stack hardware components on one another after you remove them. Place each component on an antistatic mat resting on a stable, flat surface.

    7. Place one hand underneath the TXP-T1600 SIB (see Figure 2 to support it. With the other hand, hold one of the ejector handles on the SIB faceplate.
    8. Carefully align the sides of the TXP-T1600 SIB with the guides inside the chassis.
    9. Slide the TXP-T1600 SIB into the chassis, carefully ensuring that it is correctly aligned.
    10. Grasp both ejector handles, and press them inward to seat the TXP-T1600 SIB.

Note: Ensure that the ejector handle tabs are properly mated inside their corresponding chassis slots before you tighten the captive screws on the ejector handles. You might have to close and open the handles a few times before the tabs catch the slots.

    11. Tighten the captive screws on the ejector handles.
    12. Upgrade the remaining SIBs when instructed to do so in the following procedures:
