Replacing a Solid-State Disk on an M320 RE-A-1800 Routing Engine

 

Each RE-1800 Routing Engine supports two solid-state disks (SSD) specified by Juniper Networks. The RE-1800 ships with one SSD installed. Figure 1 shows the arrangement of SSD slots on a RE-1800 Routing Engine.

The following SSD has been verified to work in the RE-1800 Routing Engines:

  • SSD SLC 32 GB

Removing an Solid-State Disk From an M320 RE-A-1800 Routing Engine

To remove an SSD:

  1. Disable and deactivate the SSD.
  2. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the chassis.
  3. Unfasten the thumbscrew that secures the access door in front of the SSD slots, and open the door.
  4. Slide the lock on the ejector to the unlocked position.
  5. Carefully slide the SSD out of the slot.

Installing an Solid-State Disk on an M320 RE-A-1800 Routing Engine

To install an SSD:

  1. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an ESD point on the chassis.
  2. Carefully align the sides of the SSD with the guides in the slot.
  3. Slide the SSD into the slot until you feel resistance, carefully ensuring that it is correctly aligned.
  4. Close the access door and tighten the thumbscrew to secure the door.
  5. Mount the new SSD.
