Removing an Optical ILA from a Rack or Cabinet
If you need to remove an optical ILA to return it or relocate an installed optical ILA, perform the following procedure. (The remainder of this topic uses rack to mean rack or cabinet.)
When you remove multiple devices from a rack, remove the device in the top of the rack first and proceed to remove the rest of the devices from top to bottom to avoid toppling the rack.
Before removing an optical ILA from a rack:
Ensure that the rack is stable and secured to the building.
Ensure that there is enough space to place the removed optical ILA in its new location and along the path to the new location.
Read General Safety Guidelines and Warnings, and Installation Instructions Warning.
Power off the device (see Powering Off an Optical ILA).
Ensure that you have disconnected any cables or wires attached to the optical ILA (see Disconnecting a Fiber-Optic Cable from an Optical ILA).
Ensure that you have the following tool available:
Screwdriver appropriate for your rack-mounting screws.
To remove an optical ILA from a rack:
- Use a screwdriver to remove the front-mounting screws that attach the chassis mounting brackets to the rack or cabinet.
- Remove the optical ILA from the rack.
- Transport the optical ILA to your desired new location or pack it to prepare to return (see How to Return a Hardware Component to Juniper Networks, Inc.).
