Upgrading the Line-Card Chassis Rear Fan Tray

Replace the rear fan tray with the model required for your configuration. See Hardware and Software Requirements for a T4000 Line-Card Chassis in a TX Matrix Plus Routing Matrix and Hardware and Software Requirements for a T1600 Line-Card Chassis in a TX Matrix Plus Routing Matrix

Caution

To maintain proper cooling, do not operate the router with the rear fan tray removed for more than one minute.

To upgrade the LCC rear fan tray:

  1. Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
  2. Use the standard replacement procedure described in the T1600 Core Router Hardware Guide and T4000 Core Router Hardware Guide.
  3. Display the status of the fans in the router by issuing the show chassis environment command. The output is similar to the following:
    user@host> show chassis environment
