Installing and Removing EX6210 Switch Hardware Components

The EX6210 switch chassis is a rigid sheet-metal structure that houses the hardware components. The field-replaceable units (FRUs) in an EX6210 switch are:

  • Switch Fabric and Routing Engine (SRE) module

  • 48-port PoE+ line card

  • 48-port RJ-45 line card

  • 48-port SFP line card

  • Power supplies (AC or DC)

  • Fan tray

  • SFP transceiver

  • SFP+ transceiver

The SRE module is hot-removable or hot-pluggable depending on the configuration of the switch. See EX6210 Switch Configurations.

All the line cards are hot-removable and hot-insertable. However, we recommend that you take them offline before removing them.

The AC and DC power supplies, fan tray, SFP transceiver, and SFP+ transceiver in EX6200 switches are hot-removable and hot-insertable FRUs: You can remove and replace them without powering off the switch or disrupting switch functions.
