Connecting the TX Matrix Plus Router to a Network Device
To connect the Routing Engines in a TX Matrix Plus router
to a network for management of the routing matrix, connect a UTP Category
5 Ethernet cable with an RJ-45 connector to the ETHERNET
port on a TXP-CB.
For TX Matrix Plus routers with two host subsystems, we
recommend that you connect each TXP-CB to a network. One cable is
provided in the accessory box. To connect another cable to the ETHERNET
port on the other TXP-CB, you must provide an
additional cable.
To connect a cable to a network device:
- Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
- Plug one end of a UTP Category 5 Ethernet cable (Figure 2 shows the connector)
into the
ETHERNET
port on the TXP-CB in slotCB0
(see Figure 1). This port connects to the Routing Engine installed into the TXP-CB in slotCB0
. - Plug the other end of the cable into the network device.
- Plug one end of another UTP Category 5 Ethernet cable
into the
ETHERNET
port on the TXP-CB in slotCB1
. This port connects to the Routing Engine installed into the TXP-CB in slotCB1
. - Plug the other end of the cable into the network device.
