To convert a T640 router, you need the following tools:

  • Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding wrist strap

You can order a T640 router with the hardware and software components already installed, or you can convert your existing T640 router by ordering and installing a kit that contains these hardware components:

  • One rear fan tray with eight fans

The rear fan tray required for the converted T640 router contains eight fans (the fan tray being replaced has five blowers).

  • One or two Control Boards

Figure 2 and Figure 3 illustrate the difference between an LCC-CB, a T-CB, and a standard CB.

Both Control Boards must be the same model number.

The LCC-CB is required for the RE-C1800 Routing Engine. The T-CB is required for the RE-600 Routing Engine, RE-1600 Routing Engine, and RE-2000 Routing Engine,
