Line-Card Chassis ID

 

The chassis ID for the LCCs is located on the LCC-CBs.

LCC ID Requirements

You must follow these requirements when setting the LCC-CB ID switches:

  • The chassis ID switch settings must match where the control cables are connected on the LCC-CB.

  • Both LCC-CBs in an LCC must have the same switch setting.

  • The switch setting for each LCC must be unique within the routing matrix.

  • The chassis IDs in a routing matrix do not need to be contiguous.

  • If the routing matrix contains only one LCC, we recommend that you assign a chassis ID of 0 to the router.

  • If you are planning online upgrade of a T1600 router, you must assign a chassis ID of 0 to the router.

    Note

    In a routing matrix, the dial is set to indicate the LCC chassis number and is read and stored during initialization. If the dial is changed to any other value, CHASSIS ID Changed alarm is raised and it gets cleared after the dial is set back to its proper value.

LCC Chassis IDs for the TXP-T1600 Configuration

A chassis ID must be from 0 through 3. Do not assign a chassis ID greater than 3. For online upgrade of the first LCC, you must set the chassis ID to 0. Table 1 shows the supported LCC numbers for the T1600 LCCs in a TXP-T1600 configuration.

A chassis ID must be from 0 through 7. Do not assign a chassis ID greater than 7. Table 2 shows the supported LCC numbers for the T1600 LCCs in a TXP-T1600-3D configuration.

A chassis ID must be 0, 2, 4, or 6. Do not assign a chassis ID of 1, 3, 5, or 7. Table 3 shows the supported LCC numbers for the T4000 LCCs.

LCC Chassis ID for the Mixed-LCC-3D Configuration

For the TXP-Mixed-LCC-3D configuration, Table 4 shows some examples of supported LCC numbers for T4000 LCC or T1600 LCC. Other combinations are valid but must meet the following requirements:

  • Do not assign any chassis ID greater than 7.

  • Either T4000 routers or T1600 routers can be configured as even number LCC 0, 2, 4, or 6.

  • T4000 routers can not be configured as odd number LCC 1, 3, 5, or 7.

  • T1600 routers can be configured as odd number LCC 1, 3, 5, or 7 only if a T4000 router is not configured to be the preceding even LCC number. For example, if LCC0 is a T4000 router, LCC1 cannot be used.
