    Chassis Component Alarm Conditions on EX4500 Switches

    This topic describes the chassis component alarm conditions on EX4500 switches.

    Table 1 lists the alarms that the chassis components can generate on EX4500 switches.

    Power supplies

    A power supply has been removed from the chassis.

    Insert power supply into empty slot.

    Yellow

    An unknown power supply is installed.

    Install a Juniper networks recommended power supply.

    Yellow

    The power supply is offline or the power supply output has failed.

    Red

    Fan tray

    Fan tray is missing or has been removed from the chassis.

    Install missing fan tray.

    Yellow

    One fan in the chassis is not spinning or is spinning below required speed.

    • Check the fan.
    • Replace the faulty fan tray.

    Red

    Power supply and the fans have different airflow directions.

    The temperature inside the chassis has exceeded 95° C (203° F).

    The temperature inside the chassis has exceeded 85° C (185° F) and a fan has failed.

    The temperature inside the chassis has exceeded 80° C (176° F).

    • Check the fan.

    Yellow

    The temperature inside the chassis has exceeded 70° C (158° F) and a fan has failed.

    • Check the fan.

    Yellow

    The temperature sensor has failed.
