    Chassis Component Alarm Conditions on EX4200 Switches

    This topic describes the chassis component alarm conditions on EX4200 switches.

    Table 1 lists the alarms that the chassis components can generate on EX4200 switches.

    Power supplies

    A power supply has been removed from the chassis.

    Insert power supply into empty slot.

    Yellow

    The power supply is offline or the power supply output has failed.

    Red

    An unknown power supply is installed.

    Install a Juniper networks recommended power supply.

    Yellow

    Fan tray

    Fan tray is missing or has been removed from the chassis.

    Install missing fan tray.

    Yellow

    One fan in the chassis is not spinning or is spinning below required speed.

    Fan tray failure – i2c read failure

    The temperature inside the chassis has exceeded 95° C (203° F).

    • Check the room temperature.
    • Check the fan.
    • If the above two checks show no problems, open a support case using the Case Manager link at http://www.juniper.net/support/ or call 1-888-314-5822 (toll-free within the United States and Canada) or 1-408-745-9500 (from outside the United States).

    Red

    The temperature inside the chassis has exceeded 85° C (185° F) and a fan has failed.

    • Check the fan.
    • Open a support case using the Case Manager link at http://www.juniper.net/support/ or call 1-888-314-5822 (toll-free within the United States and Canada) or 1-408-745-9500 (from outside the United States).

    Red

    The temperature inside the chassis has exceeded 80° C (176° F).

    • Check the room temperature.
    • Check the fan.
    • If the above two checks show no problems, open a support case using the Case Manager link at http://www.juniper.net/support/ or call 1-888-314-5822 (toll-free within the United States and Canada) or 1-408-745-9500 (from outside the United States).

    Yellow

    The temperature inside the chassis has exceeded 70° C (158° F) and a fan has failed.

    • Check the fan.

    Yellow

    The temperature sensor has failed.

    Redundant power system

    RPS is disconnected.

    Check the RPS connection.
