Connecting the SRX3400 Services Gateway to a Management Console or an Auxiliary Device

To use a system console to configure and manage the Routing Engine, connect it to one of the RE CONSOLE ports on the Switch Fabric Board (SFB) using the RJ-45 cable. .

To connect a management console or an auxiliary device:

1. Turn off the power to the console.
2. Plug the RJ–45 end of the cable (Figure 38 shows the connector) into one of the RE CONSOLE ports on the SFB.
   • The port labeled RE CONSOLE 0 connects to the Routing Engine when it is installed in slot RE0,
   • The port labeled RE CONSOLE 1 connects to the Routing Engine when it is installed in slot RE1,
3. Plug the female DB-9 end into the device's serial port.
