Network Processing Cards

Network Processing Cards (NPCs) are common form-factor module (CFM) cards that receive inbound traffic from the I/O cards (IOCs) and direct it to the appropriate Services Processing Card (SPC) for processing. Once services processing is complete, the NPC receives outbound traffic from the SPC(s) and directs it back to the appropriate IOC. Additionally, the NPC performs the following functions:

  • If a CFM slot is not occupied by a card, you must install a blank panel to shield the empty slot and to allow cooling air to circulate properly through the device.
  • The ONLINE button on NPC does not perform any function and currently it is not supported.

Figure 65 shows the NPC that can be used on SRX1400 Services Gateway.
